STEM Tower Challenge
Messalonskee Middle School sixth graders in Miss Hilton’s science classes had fun taking part in a tower building STEM challenge! This challenge had three phases. In phase one, students attempted to build the tallest tower possible without spoken communication. In phase two, students could speak. Phase three threw in an extra challenge – students were asked to write down a commonality that was true of the whole group in order to use the card in the tower. For example, a group may have written, “We all have pet dogs,” and then they would be able to use the card! Students were able to have great discussions about what it means to work as an effective group. They enjoyed building and creating while learning more about their peers. #WeAreRSU18
