MMS Parent News for November!

Leaf Raking Community Service Project
Each fall the students of MMS take an afternoon to help out community members clear up their yards in preparation for the coming winter. We are having our annual event on Wednesday, November 8th with a rain date of November 9th. Students will be working in yards around our communities starting around noon. If you need to pick up your child before 2:30 on that day then please plan ahead and let the office know so that they are not out of town. If your child plans to bring in a rake (and we need rakes), it is important to know that they can’t be brought on the bus to and from school. Parents can drop them off at MMS and pick them back up after our event. Please put your name on the rake and have your child bring it to their team area so that it does not get lost in the collection of rakes.
Yearbooks For Sale
This year we are making some new options available in our yearbooks. First, there is an option to purchase a note in the yearbook. For a fee you can craft a personal message that will be published in the yearbook for all to see. The second option is that you can purchase your child’s yearbook on line. More information on how to do this is located on our school website.

Veterans Assembly
On November 9th we will be having our Veterans Assembly at the Messalonskee High School PAC starting at 8:35. This is an annual event that is coordinated by team Boothbay and Lauralee Fegel, where our students celebrate and honor our Veterans who have served to protect our safety and freedoms. This is a culminating activity that builds off many of the lessons that students on team Boothbay as well as other teams have been experiencing in the past month. If you know of a Veteran from our community or in your family, please invite them to attend. Refreshments will be served to all Veterans and their families in the MHS cafeteria prior to the assembly. Any questions, contact Mrs. Fegel 465-2167 or lfegel@rsu18.org Many thanks to Mrs. Fegel, Ms. Michaud, Mrs. Averill and Miss Oliver for organizing this beautiful event.
