MMS Parent News for September!
Hello all MMS Families!
It has been an interesting start with summer weather lasting till this week and then all of the sudden, winter! I will be starting to send a monthly newsletter in the first week of the month. The Eagle Way… Be a STAR!
Our focus this year is on having students be a S.T.A.R. This is our behavioral focus with students being Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable and Respectful! These behaviors will help them be successful at school as well as in live in general. If you have questions about these times then please contact your child’s teachers and they can describe how these are used on their team.
Parent Advisory Committee
I will be having a parent advisory committee this year that will meet 5 times during the school year. The committee will give me feedback on the running of the school and will have opportunities to discuss and learn about things at MMS. The first meeting will be on October 19 @ 6:00PM in the MMS Library. The focus of our first meeting will be the start of the Watch DOGS program at MMS this year. I have included a paper in your student’s first day packet with all the dates for the year and a sign up portion.
Technology
Your students were issued their laptops at the start of school. I encourage families to communicate their expectations for computer use at home. We recommend that laptops not be allowed in bedrooms, bathrooms or other unsupervised areas. Also, students should not be eating or drinking while on a laptop. If you would like to enroll in the laptop protection plan and have not done so yet, you can find information on our website. Fun Nights
At MMS we have a fun night most months. There is a DJ in the cafeteria, open gym, and snacks. It is open to all MMS students. We do allow MMS students to sign in a guest, as long as the parents of the MMS student are willing to take responsibility for the guest. The guest form is available in the main office. Tickets are sold ahead of time in the mornings before school. Tickets will not be sold at the door. The cost is $5.
Dress Code
Please make sure that your students clothing matches the dress code at MMS. During the warmer times of the year, this can be a bit of a problem. If you have any questions about the dress code, you can get the details on page 24 of the Parent Handbook.
