A Firehouse Science Adventure
At Messalonskee Middle School, Team Atlantic’s sixth graders partnered with a local fire station to translate heat transfer concepts into real-world observations. From suiting up in real firefighter gear to spraying the hose, students explored conduction, convection, and radiation in action. They also practiced rescue techniques using a dummy, bringing their learning full circle.
This science field trip turned heat transfer into an unforgettable, hands-on adventure. A big shoutout went to the Oakland Fire Department for their time, patience, and expertise in guiding these sixth-grade scientists. #WeAreRSU18
