Old Fort Western
On June 5, Team Kennebec of Messalonskee Middle School visited Old Fort Western in Augusta for an engaging and educational field trip. Students explored the five essential aspects of survival in the 1700s, viewed authentic artifacts, and learned about the Howard family who once lived at the Fort. Highlights included a visit to the trading post store, discovering the types of crops grown in the garden during colonial times, hearing the story of a historical murder at the Fort, sitting on a hay-filled bed, and even having the opportunity to touch select artifacts. #WeAreRSU18
