Fizz, Float, and Learn!
Sixth graders in Mrs. Hardy’s science class at Messalonskee Middle School explored the states of matter in a sweet and engaging way—by making root beer floats! Students predicted and observed as solid ice cream melted into liquid and fizzy root beer released gas bubbles. Along the way, they documented changes, labeled diagrams, and connected their observations to key concepts like melting and evaporation.
