Gulf of Maine Research Institute
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, sixth graders from Team Atlantic of Messalonskee Middle School visited the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in downtown Portland. Students traveled in style aboard a chartered coach bus generously provided by GMRI. During the visit, students assumed the roles of researchers and scientists, collecting and recording data on live lobsters. They also completed microscopic observations of plankton and conducted virtual dissections of black sea bass. This engaging field trip provided a valuable hands-on learning experience and created lasting memories for these young scientists. #WeAreRSU18
