MMS Family News for the week of June 1

Hello Families!

I hope that the week has gone well and that you are ready for the weekend.  I appreciate all the work that our students have been doing and all of the support parents have been giving them over the past weeks.  You are all doing a great job and I appreciate you.

As you know we are about to enter our final week of distance learning for this school year.  There are a number of things coming up that need to happen so that we can return items that belong to your family and collect the laptops so that we can prepare them for next year.  Below is some information about different aspects of this process.

Report Cards

We will be sending out your child’s report card by the end of the month.  Grades will be updated by June 10th so if you check PowerSchool and have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Locker Clean Out

We will be scheduling times for students’ items to be picked up next week.  We know that these times will not work for everyone and so if you are unable to pick up their child’s items at the scheduled time then please call the office and we will work out a plan for a different time.  All of our students’ items have been bagged up from their lockers and will be outside on the sidewalk of the front loop.  They will be in alphabetical order by last name so that students or parents can easily find them.  You can pull up and grab your child’s bag.  This is also a great time to check the lost and found! If you have any library books that are ready to return then please drop those off.   If it is raining, we will have your child’s materials in the hall by the cafeteria.  You may pull up to the kitchen entrance and we will bring out your child’s bag.  Below are the times by team.

  • Monday, June 1 –  12:00-2:00 – Team Highlands
  • Monday, June 1 – 2:00 – 4:00 – Team Kennebec
  • Tuesday, June 2 – 10:00-12:00 – Team Atlantic
  • Tuesday, June 2 – 12:00-2:00 – Team Boothbay
  • Tuesday, June 2 – 2:00 – 4:00 – Team Evergreen
  • Wednesday, June 3 – 10:00-12:00 – Team Baxter
  • Wednesday, June 3 – 12:00 – 2:00 – Team Dirigo

Laptop/Text Book/Library Book Return

We will be having laptop and materials return on June 8, 9 and 10 from 8:00-2:00.  We will have an evening time on June 11 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM for those who can not make it to school during the day.  The laptops will be able to be dropped off at the front entrance of the school.  Students/parents will pull up and place their materials, books and computer on the table and a staff member will move it into the school.  Students should return textbooks and materials, laptops, laptop cases, laptop chargers and library books.

8th Grade Recognition Night

This year we will have our recognition ceremony for the class of 2024 as they move to become Messlaonskee High School students on June 9th.  This event will be streamed for the public to watch and will be found on our website.  Team Dirigo’s event will begin at 5:30PM and team Boothbay’s event will start at 7:30PM.  I have sent a separate email to the 8th grade parents with much more detail.

If you have any questions, please call in to the school on Monday.  Have a great weekend!
