MMS Update from Principal Hatch 3/17/2020
Hello all families. I wanted to send you an update regarding the school closure. Our schools have closed until March 27th. We hope to be able to reopen our schools after that but if what has evolved over the last couple of days is any indication as to what is to come, that plan may change.
I worked with staff yesterday to prepare resources for your children to use during the next week to keep them engaged with learning opportunities. All staff have populated a folder that has information and activities for your child. They can access these folders beginning on Wednesday. I will send you a link when they are live. We would ask you to have your child spend some time completing activities each day and encourage them to read while they are at home. Right now these are resources we are making available to you. We will be having conversations over this week to determine what a distance learning experience might look like for our students. I will communicate more later this week.
If your child needs to come in to pick up their laptop or items from their lockers, our building will be open from 8:00-2:30 for access this week. I will communicate at the end of the week about our hours next week.
Breakfast and Lunch Services
Our food service staff will be preparing breakfast and lunch meals for all students for the next two weeks. You can pick up both meals at the MMS between the hours of 9:00 am- 11:00 am. If you are unable to come to the school to pick up your meals there are additional sites throughout the district (Oakland Boat Landing, Rome Community Center, Belgrade Rec Center, and Sidney Fire Station) that may be closer for you.
Should you find that your student is having a difficult time during these next two weeks, please reach out to their school counselor either by emailing them directly or calling the main office and they will be in contact as soon as they are available.
